Pilot site description

Ecogrow+ mats have been selected for some difficult to green areas alongside some roads in Rheinland-Pfalz .

A biomat with seeds has been combined with a layer of natural fibres. The natural fibres should guarantee that sufficient water is absorbed by the mat. A sufficient and stable humidity level is essential for a good germination of the seeds.

The natural fibres will disappear quite quickly whereas the biomat will keep on functioning as a anti-erosion mat for minimum 2 seasons.

A quick greening of the new to green areas avoids that road banks get damaged by water erosion.
